Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our growing Team. As the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for managing and directing the daily accounting work to support smooth monthly closes and accurate financial reporting. The perfect candidate will be a leader who can motivate, train, and coach the accounting team, enhance processes, and assist with planning to support operational needs and accounting reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting standards around revenue recognition, accounting policies, concepts, and timing. The ideal candidate will come with comprehensive experience in the cost side of accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting functions to ensure transactions are timely and complete
• Assist and direct accounting team members
• Oversee and lead the month end closing procedure; including making journal entries, performing reconciliations and researching outliers
• Assist in the management of banking and treasury compliance and relationships
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state and local tax and regulatory environments
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance segregation of duties and preserve our speedy month end close window
• Analyze accounting trends to identify issues
• Prepare and coordinate support for annual audit and assist in annual physical inventory
• Assist in the annual financial budgeting process
• Assist Controller in ad hoc accounting, finance, budgeting and payroll related tasks

Required Skills:

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned workload effectively to maximize results and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of and ability to apply GAAP in recording transactions
• Attention to detail and initiative to self-direct learning and resolutions
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication with customers, staff, peers, and management
• Proactive, friendly, motivating, & positive approach to interacting with clients and team
• Comfortable in Excel and modern ERP systems – knowledge of Syspro a plus
• Comprehensive experience with month end closings

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CMA or equivalent will be given strong preference
• Costing experience inside a manufacturing environment is a huge plus
• Prior accounting leadership experience
• Above-average Excel skills
• Six to 8 years in an accounting role, with progressively increasing responsibilities
• Two years of supervising direct reports
