Job Description
Assistant Controller
Position Summary
The Assistant Controller supports financial operations by leading reporting, analysis, and internal controls while partnering with leadership to drive business performance. This role plays a key part in financial planning, cost management, and operational decision-making within a dynamic, manufacturing-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and budgets
- Evaluate financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
- Support strategic planning through financial modeling, ROI analysis, and business case development
- Assist with product costing, pricing strategies, and margin analysis
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and audit requirements (including SOX where applicable)
- Improve financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies
- Partner with operations on cost control, inventory, and asset utilization
- Provide financial insights to support new business opportunities, capital investments, and process improvements
- Supervise and develop accounting staff
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibility
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
