Our Client, a Public Utility that provides natural gas and electricity to the majority of Michigan s 10 million residents is seeking a talented and self-driven individual for State wide needs serving in the role of Supply Chain Governance Specialist.


A Supply Chain Governance Specialist is responsible for monitoring and ensuring adherence to company policy and procedures, creating standards for training, processes, procedures, and job aids along with initiating continuous improvement efforts within the Procurement department. This will be accomplished by utilizing lean practices which include, but are not limited to establishing metrics, evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs), conducting internal process and policy audits, creating Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs) and monitoring control plans around the entire Contract Lifecycle Management process.
The Specialist will collaborate with management and key stakeholders to monitor the current business environment, establish internal best practices, mitigate risk and liabilities, evaluate opportunities for improvement and incorporate standard practices which align with the company s key principles.
A Supply Chain Governance Specialist will provide analytical review of core company processes to identify potential people, process or technology concerns and provide recommendations or solutions to management for improvement.
Principal Responsibilities:
Develop and implement key procurement strategies in conjunction with the businesses which will maximize total benefits while maintaining or improving service levels.
Understand the current business environment, practices and policies
Benchmark against best in class companies
Drive positive change through effective change management strategies
Establish and manage relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive initiatives across functions
Facilitate annual multi department meetings to evaluate potential changes in the market environment, identify potential constraints or concerns and work with the business to update current processes or policies to address concerns
Identify and evaluate innovative processes and technologies with potential to deliver value to organization and/or in support of new process development efforts.
Develop detailed metrics to track progress
Be able to review data, analyze the results, establish appropriate visual management and effectively communicate the results to key stakeholders and upper management
Measure governance performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
Conduct monthly operating reviews with key stakeholders
Report and escalate to management as needed
Establish and manage relationships with key clients and stakeholders
Facilitate meetings that drive continuous improvement initiatives. This means demonstrating the ability to develop agendas, lead meetings, and document & publish critical results.
Develop, implement and drive the procurement strategies in order to mitigate risk to the company
Review and manage the procurement process and policies to ensure compliance, consistency and standardization
Train team on standard procurement processes, policies and strategy.
Create the process for internal audits, evaluate the findings, initiate correct actions (non-compliant findings) and escalate to appropriate management level as required.
Ensure procurement policies and procedures are being updated, effectively communicated and followed by all business units
Work with internal controls to determine internal audit schedules and proactively conduct internal audits or our procurement processes and policies
Ensure business management plans effectively address internal procurement audit findings.


Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or related field
5+ years in a procurement role, or a track record of process and policy development, showing personal growth and/or increasing responsibilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Deep knowledge of supply chain strategies and procurement processes
Demonstrated negotiation skills
Ability to identify both required & desired outcomes from a meeting or situation, and be comfortable entering into difficult discussions/situations with stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership or critical thinking skills
Change management experience
Demonstrated ability to comfortably and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to easily communicate and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels to manage projects and drive process improvement
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking
Ability to identify process improvements and successfully implement changes
Capable of developing standard work & training materials for internal & external stakeholders
Ability to write policy language
Effectively manage, prioritize and organize work responsibilities within tight deadlines
Problem solving while dealing with ambiguity
Experience with Microsoft Project and Visio is preferred
Experience with SharePoint
