The Software Engineering Manager will oversee the software development function and people leadership aspects for specific software applications. This role will develop and implement business plans and collaborate with other departments to prioritize software development needs including design, development, and documenting and testing new and existing software. The Software Engineering Manager will evaluate results within team to determine if organizational objectives are being met. This person will also analyze and resolve software development issues and needs in terms of the software' s full life cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
People Leadership:
Manage individual team member professional development
Manage individual team member workload and progress
Manage projects and initiatives prioritized by the team Product Owner
Manage coordination of resources among projects
Champion of and participant in Agile, Scrum and Scrumban processes

Engineering:
Own the application development projects, support, and releases
Define, estimate, code, review, test and document solutions for maintenance, feature development, and refactor initiatives
Install and maintain personal Vagrant environment
Uphold DIGARC s software development process

Support:

Handle all aspects of supporting an enterprise application (client issues, performance, data integrity, integration with related applications)
Handle issue triage independently
Communicate solution measures with affected departments (Support, Systems, other products, etc.)

Communication:

Communicate problems and solutions effectively with Director of Engineering, other engineers, and across other teams
Engage other engineers about code, process and challenges
Act as communication point person for issue status, causes and resolutions with affected departments (Support, Systems, other products, etc.)

Education and Experience:
Minimum 7 (seven) years of experience in a software product development environment
Minimum 5 (five) years of experience designing, building and supporting end-to-end web-based systems for enterprise applications
3+ years of professional development in Python and 2 years of experience with AWS.
Minimum one year as a software engineering manager including professional development and performance management
Experience with enterprise software development, maintenance, and processes
Experience problem-solving with large, complex web-based applications
Experience with enterprise, web-based data integration including transactions, full CRUD and ETL across business applications
Experience as a software development project leader including project planning and execution, staffing, tasking and reporting

Education and Experience (cont.):
Experience with Agile processes, especially Scrum or Scrumban
Experience with testing frameworks, unit testing and continuous integration (CI)
Experience working in and maintaining a Vagrant environment
