***This position will require flexibility to accommodate either 1 shift (7: 30a-4p) or 2 shift (11a-7: 30p or 12-8: 30p)***

Job Description

The technician will be responsible for utilizing their mechanical and electrical knowledge to test washing machines and dryers for development and approval purposes. The technician will gather knowledge through test results and apply that information to analyze problems for root cause, working with the product development engineering teams to test, analyze and report results of testing. The technician will use standards from UL / IEC or lab procedures to perform the testing, learning new procedures and writing new work instructions where needed. Through this role the technician will develop a strong understanding of appliance operations and development and approval lab procedures.

Responsibilities

Perform test procedures and maintain products & components under test with minimal supervision
Build and assemble products, subassemblies, and components
Instrument laundry products for data acquisition
Record and compile data, draft preliminary reports and verbally communicate results
Troubleshoot washers and repair malfunctioning units
Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, support 5S and Lean activities
Construct basic test fixtures as required
Handle multiple projects concurrently
Provide technical direction in problem solving through critical thinking
Improve and expand your technical skills
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) may be required for some projects
Use of specialized software and data analysis techniques may require training that will be provided

Must Have Skills

2-Year Associates Technology Degree required, 4 year degree preferred
4 years hands-on experience in mechanical or electrical areas
Outstanding people skills, with the specific ability to interact as a team player and persistent follow through
An inquisitive nature, determined to understand the root cause of technical problems
In-depth computerized equipment skills and record keeping systems, experience with MS
Excel and Word or Google equivalents
Prior experience with LabVIEW, or similar data acquisition softwares, a plus
Experience with testing to ISO, UL, IEC or ANSI standards, or similar, a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to use basic technical equipment
A good attitude with the ability to multi-task
Ability to move appliances using appliance cart (assistance from other person is acceptable).
Frequently be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
