Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities to support the production of Spectrometers, Optical Fibers, Systems and accessories. He/She is also responsible for continuous improvement, lean value stream process support, and maintenance of manufacturing and transactional processes to maximize productivity while minimizing costs. Has a natural curiosity for problem-solving using Quality/Lean tools in an analytical and respectful manner. Act in a leadership role within the Manufacturing Engineering team and serve as a technical expert to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) objectives. Lead cross functional teams to address organizational wide continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining positive employee relations, team oriented problem solving and employee accountability. This position will be located in our Winter Park, Florida facility and will be reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with RMA team to address Customer issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) using 8D approach
Support Internal Audit program and perform Supplier audits
Material Review Board (MRB) Quality Representative
Ability to create/use process flow-chart, process control plan and process FMEA
Measurement System Analysis (MSA), SPC and Gauge R&R (using Minitab software is a plus)
Responsible to lead Lean manufacturing efforts and drive safety / quality / productivity / cost improvement projects. Report progress to Management team in terms KPI improvements
Participate in the selection of new machines, tooling, automation and processes required to meet productivity objectives.
Understands and applies Lean Manufacturing tools (Standard Work, TPI, Poka Yoke, 5S, Kanban/Material Planning, Visual Management, etc.) across operational and transactional processes
Follow-up Kaizen events and ensure proper metrics are installed to ensure sustainment of improvements
Capable of leading training on Quality / Lean concepts
Support manufacturing team(s) for maintaining / updating SOPs
Work closely with NPD/NPI team(s) to assure product quality
Work directly with supply chain to implement internal / external improvements
Observe testing methods and ensure adequate First Pass Yield (FPY), assisting in the development and implementation of corrective / preventive actions where necessary. Create and maintain mechanism of providing visibility into operating performance
Project management skills typically with smaller projects

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:
BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3-5 years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities.
Working knowledge with ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification preferred and Auditing experience required; ISO 14001 & ISO 17025 knowledge is a plus.
Experience at implementing Quality / Lean tools
Strong engineering aptitude with ability to learn and adapt to new processes.
Experience working with manufacturing part flow of electrical and opto-mechanical components and systems is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage Kaizen teams while obtaining sustainable results.
Demonstrated knowledge and competence in machining and/or assembly operations.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with OSHA regulations, workplace safety programs, and basic ergonomics.
