Currently searching for an experienced Project Engineer for a Tier 1 Automotive company. This company is a leader in their industry and offers a great compensation + benefits package. This position will be responsible for working cross-functionally with multiple groups including Product Design and Manufacturing to help drive programs to a successful launch. This is an extremely visible role within our organization allowing someone to develop and grow within our company.
Plans, organizes, leads, and directs technical work related to product engineering activities. Serves as a liaison and coordinates engineering activities from concept through production testing. Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements or improves new and/or existing products, processes, materials, technologies, and equipment. The product engineer is responsible to create and maintain the program: DFMEA' s, DVP' s, BOM' s, design review checklist (C5 and/or C15), tolerance stacks, drawing GD&T, DFM/DFA checklists and any customer specific requirements. The product engineer will lead the product design team and maintain the open issues list related to product engineering. Performs other duties as required.
1. Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, and directs technical work and departmental/team efforts related to product, process, tooling, testing, and materials as it relates to product engineering activities.
2. Translates direction of technical work into specific plans of action and directs product engineering activities to production phase. Monitors and controls costs, quality, timing, and other related aspects of projects. Understands and adheres to schedule and budgetary requirements of projects. Reports progress as required.
3. Serves as a liaison and coordinates development activities of internal and external resources. Serves as a resource by providing a problem solving function by initiating action to overcome obstacles as they are encountered.
4. Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements new and/or existing products, processes, materials, and equipment. Engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate and beneficial techniques.
Skills and Competencies
: Minimum 5 years' experience successfully interfacing with multiple automotive OEM customers
: Have successfully lead over 5 program launches annually
: Specifically implemented or improved new and/or existing product
: Over 2 years' experience creating and/or working with DFMEAs and Product design specifications
