The Logistics Manager is responsible for execution and management of an approximate $5M of freight operations for a medical device manufacturer. The Logistics Manager will manage the inbound and outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, and logistics quality management. The Manager will work to continuously improve and develop operations and to exceed internal and external customers expectations.
Leads, directs, manages and coordinates both inbound and outbound logistics and transportation strategic planning and activities across multiple locations.
Coordinates with Production and Sales to create and adjust shipping schedules.
Ships LTL and parcel packages daily, nationwide and internationally
Ships and receives international containers frequently
Negotiates freight contracts with carriers to minimize freight costs with the highest service
Works to consolidate shipments and other practices to maximize profitability
Works to minimize accessorial charges
Provides organization current rates and industry trends for various delivery platforms
Processes and collects Freight Claims
Optimize packaging to reduce damage and freight costs
Audits freight quotes, invoices and BOL
Works with Engineering and Production to minimize future freight damage
Develops and trains staff
Reports and tracking; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Perform other duties as assigned
In depth knowledge of LTL, parcel, import and export, including rules and regulations
Must possess critical thinking, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking skills
Minimum 5 years experience in freight/logistics and 2 years in a management position
Experience working with 3PL s
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must
Excellent computer skills (including Word, Excel and Outlook and shipping software)
4 year Bachelors degree preferred
