The Food Engineer will join our client and their Cooking Food Technology Team which possesses a strong culinary passion and consumer focus. The food Technology team supports both cooktop and cavity performance development where both virtual and physical test methods are employed to develop and verify cooking performance.

Job Descpription

The food engineer will be responsible for the development of cooking performance for oven cavities and cooktops. The Engineer will support development of cooking accessories, oven or range components and support development and parameterization of appliance algorithms to meet performance attribute targets. The food engineer is also a resource for food science/engineering related knowledge and will serve as a technical consultant to others within the corporation.

Responsibilities

Execute development of food science related system and component development projects on time, on cost and at best quality.
Optimize appliance cooking performance through the development and parameterization of appliance algorithms.
Provide input to and support of engineering development for components and systems related to cooking performance (includes Heating Elements, Convection Systems, Cooking Accessories, user interface)
Provide direction to software/hardware teams and algorithm lead regarding algorithm requirements.
Support new product design and development from concept development to execution.
Develop multiple concepts and utilize engineering disciplines such as CAE, DFMEA, DVP&R, hands on testing and proprietary algorithm development tools to evaluate and select concepts which best meet requirements.
Closes knowledge gaps and creates future leverage.
Performs laboratory testing of prototypes for component and system level characterization.
Supports literature development for cooking related functions and features.
Balances multiple project priorities including support of non-project performance lab requests including benchmark evaluations, cost and quality support.
Technical project management: Schedule, Scope, Risk management related to modules and components owned.
Uses day to day work to develop technical capabilities and competencies.

Must have skills

Bachelor' s Degree in Food Engineering, Food Science or related technical field required.
1+ years Technical Experience (experience in Appliance, Consumer Goods or Food Industry a plus)
Strong interest in food, cooking and/or culinary science.
Ability to analyze mechanical and electrical systems.
Critical thinking, issue follow-up and resolution skills.
Demonstrated project management and computer skills
Strong Microsoft suite skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project (Knowledge of Google tools a plus)
Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of internal clients.
Ability to perform effectively within budgetary and time guidelines.
Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.
Able to contribute to strong and dependable teams.
Possesses excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.

Desired:

Experience with control theory or control systems a plus.
Black Belt/Opex/Six Sigma experience a plus.
Knowledge of Consumer Reports or other consumer agency evaluation methodologies a plus.
