Financial Analyst- Stock Administration

Our client, a publicly traded company based here in the Grand Rapids area has an exciting opportunity for a detail oriented accounting professional to lead the administrative of the Company s stock plan and interface with key leaders throughout the Company. The Stock Plan Administrator will be a key member of the Corporate Accounting team with responsibility for the day-to-day administration and accounting for the Company s stock-based compensation program and other complex accounting analyses. While interfacing with human resources, legal, payroll, tax and other professionals, you will process all equity award transactions and record the necessary accounting journal entries. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have great communication skills and a proven ability to complete work accurately and timely.
Perform all duties related to the administration of the Company s stock-based compensation program. Specific responsibilities include granting new awards, processing option exercises, award vesting s and terminations. Verify required award approval, participant award acceptance and accurately upload data into the stock plan record keeping system. Maintain master data and perform calculations related to long-term performance-based stock awards.
Act as the Company s primary liaison with the third-party stock plan record keeper and transfer agent. Ensure accurate transfers of Company stock, stock plan transactions and participant data.
Manage all aspects of the Board of Director s compensation program, including initiating cash payments, granting stock based awards, calculation and issuance of deferred stock units and the preparation of quarterly earnings statements and annual tax compensation statements.
Record all accounting journal entries related to stock plan activity, directors compensation and other accounting areas. Prepares and maintains balance sheet account reconciliations.
Maintain effective internal controls on all aspects of plan administration and accounting functions.
Administer the Company s stock ownership policy for executives and directors. Maintain accurate records and provide timely responses to the General Counsel on all pre-clearance requests.
Prepare data for disclosure in the Company s Form 10-K and Proxy statement. Provide data to outside legal counsel for the preparation of Form 4 s. Review Form 10-K disclosures, Proxy disclosures and Form 4 s for accuracy and consistency with stock plan records.
Maintain shares outstanding rollforward and perform earnings per share calculation.
Act as a trusted partner to Human Resources and Legal, providing accurate data and timely responses to inquiries on all aspects of the stock plan, executive compensation, award agreements and plan documents.
Perform analysis of stock plan activity, including forecasting compensation expense and shares outstanding in support of the budgeting/planning process.
Interact with internal and external auditors. Provide supporting workpapers and internal control documentation.
Performs duties consistent with the company s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.
Bachelors degree in accounting.
2 to 4 years experience in accounting.
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and a general aptitude with information systems.
A high degree of analytical and organizational skills, with an ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task in a high-tech, fast-paced environment.
