As a Fabrication Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of assigned fabrication equipment/tooling (mechanical stamping presses, highly automated bending and forming cells) while improving Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery through the use of World Class Manufacturing(WCM) tools and methodologies.
Participate in activities supporting the introduction of new products or running changes such First Part Approval, trial runs, etc
Lead continuous improvement projects partnering with equipment operators, skilled trades and quality teams to improve quality, reduce scrap, reduce changeover time, reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), improve mean time between failures(MTBF) and reduce cost to run and maintain the equipment.
Develop and maintain equipment documentation including, but not limited to:
o Machine operating standards, PFMEAs, Control Plans
o Changeover operating standards
o Tool and operation sheets.
o AM and PM calendars
o Standard operating procedures and standard work
o Develop / modify, and maintain punch press / bend tooling
o Provide hands on troubleshooting support for the equipment operators, maintenance and tooling technicians to minimize production interruptions resulting from downtime.
o Track and monitor equipment/process performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities
o Train hourly and salary employees on machine changes/processes
Must Have Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial preferred)
1-2 years of fabrication equipment experience/tooling experience
1 year of experience with PPAP process preferred
Experience with WCM Methodology and implementing systematic and focused approach on the floor preferred
1 year of experience with AutoCAD a plus
Prior robotic programming/PLC Programming experience a plus
