Our client, a manufacturing company along the West Michigan Lake Shore, is looking for a Director of Supply Chain to join their team.

The Director of Supply Chain will have a successful history of establishing supply chain strategy and influencing activities that will cut manufacturing costs and drive improvement in gross margin. They will be responsible for forecasting, material ordering, inventory management, coordination with supplier quality assurance, overall cost reduction initiatives, and warehouse operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Define, design and implement necessary supply chain tools.
Directs material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of raw and approved finished goods materials timed to meet production requirements.
Execution and continuous improvement of logistics processes, demand management, electronic data systems administration, and related functions.
Establishment of short-term and long-term objectives for the supply-chain organization to meet or exceed business objectives through customer service and efficiency.
Create supply chain systems that establish organizational effectiveness, defined processes, data integrity, and effective information systems.
Transform and develop existing order management, warehouse operations, inventory management, and transportation associates into a single integrated organization.
Establish supply chain processes and metrics to track effectiveness, efficiency, and opportunities
Develop strategic sourcing processes to influence capacity and improve reaction time to market disruptions.
Support suppliers with the technical data, requirements, and payments as required per the negotiated terms
Continuously assessing the supplier marketplace while developing new supplier relationships and partners.
Support a strategic team to ensure a consistent process for making strategic decisions for the organization.
Establish a supply chain strategy that consolidates spend to the best suppliers in each area while providing an optimal balance of low cost, exceptional service, quality and delivery.
Maintain relationships with senior leaders at major suppliers
Drive Lean/Continuous Improvement activities throughout the Supply Chain Management organization
Interacting and coordinating with leadership from Manufacturing, Business Development, Finance, Operations, and IT departments
Management of subordinates regarding organization policies and applicable laws.
Interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor' s degree in Supply Chain or related field
15+ years of relevant experience preferred
Must have strong leadership experience and skills.
Must have experience in purchasing, logistics and all related materials management functions.
MRP/ERP System experience is required.
