To provide quality engineering support to the production floor as it relates to all assigned press groups, engineering change requests, technical service issues, new program launches and disposition of suspect material. Emphasis will be placed on problem solving including root cause determination and permanent preventive actions coupled with continuous improvement.
Support Customer Quality Engineers in the customer concern process for assigned press groups, including initial root cause responses, analysis, corrective action(s) and updates.
Support cross-functional problem solving meetings with the goal of determining root cause for open customer concerns.
Oversee product quality on the production floor for assigned press groups.
Ensure the customer is being protected via proper containment when necessary.
Investigate and process ECR s including coordination of data, negotiations/approvals, and advanced quality planning as required for product changes.
Actively participate in new product launch meetings, helping to communicate customer quality requirements.
Work with the Program Managers to support the APQP process, and defect prevention on new projects for assigned customer accounts.
Review inspection methods and work with the Toolmakers, Engineering, and Quality Lab to provide continual quality improvement.
Assist the Program Managers, and Engineering in the analysis of gage techniques.
Assist in evaluating and improving quality systems and procedures.
Disposition of suspect material in the hold areas.
Assist in layout of parts when required to resolve quality issues.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
A Bachelor s degree in quality or engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word).
Educated and experienced in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Problem Solving.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use all related quality lab equipment.
Complete understanding of SPC and GD & T.
Goal oriented, self-motivated organized individual.
Certified as a Quality Engineer (CQE).
Substantial familiarity with the metal stamping industry.
Knowledge of ISO/QS9000 quality systems.
