Manufacturing Controls Engineer

Team with Corporate Engineering, Maintenance Manager, and General Manager in developing, prioritizing, and implementing capital plan.
Take lead role in developing scope for all plant capital projects. Obtain competitive costs in development of project funding requests for presentation to management.
Lead role in managing capacity expansion projects in support of plant growth objectives.
Develop recommendations in cooperation with plant management for sustainable application of engineering systems and technology changes to satisfy annual goals and objectives for optimization of factory efficiency, yield improvement, safety performance, energy conservation, regulatory compliance and net cost reduction.
Assist Maintenance Manager in providing engineering planning reports, action plans, and contingency planning to plant and corporate leadership.
Maintain current environmental and regulatory permits in good standing and compliance. Establish relationships with regulatory agencies to manage minimum risk to the enterprise. Lead initiatives across the plant to motivate resource conservation and waste reduction.
Repairs, replaces and installs control circuits, to include power distribution panels and instrumentation
Evaluates and identifies potential problems; repairs and maintains electrical machinery and equipment.
Troubleshoots repairs and installs PLCs and lighting systems.
Tests, repairs and replaces AC/DC drives and motor controls.
Maintains preventative maintenance and other required records; provides verbal and written activity reports.
Designs, builds and implements all control systems.
Coordinates work with other departments and completes work order assignments.
Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety and productivity in the plant area.
Participates in all major project improvements; works different shifts as needed to give or receive training.
Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, HACCP, 5S, NEC and OSHA programs, assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
Provide technical direction and guidance as well as hands-on project management to support plant engineering projects. Perform FAT, induced failure tests, commissioning and decommissioning activities, and new process start-up leadership.
Bachelor s degree or equivalent in engineering
5 years minimum of practical experience in plant electrical or controls applications
5 years minimum Automation/Controls experience; ideally in a high speed manufacturing environment
Strong foundation in interpersonal communication concepts, specifically written and oral presentation, listening, and facilitation skills
Robust project management and organization skills in the areas of planning, scheduling, and execution
Strong electrical and programming skills
Must be self-motivated, results and action oriented
Ability to make independent and sound decisions
Experience with: Wonderware, Panelview, A/B PLC 5 and SLC 500, devicenet, control logix, RS logix, VFD setup, PID loop tuning, processing instrument calibration, and package handling and conveying
Strong problem solving abilities, advanced mechanical/electrical aptitude, basic math skills and ability to use basic gauges and measuring tools
Solid understanding of problem solving/troubleshooting/process evaluation/safety awareness
Willingness to work as a team on complex and fast-paced projects across all shifts if necessary
Must be able to successfully pass an oral and written test to demonstrate knowledge and skills required of the position
