About the Opportunity

We are working with a highly reputable organization, a 35-year Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) located in the Tampa, Florida area, seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer. This organization has a long history of supplying reliable electrical power conversion products and power engineering designs tailored to specific customer requirements. Responsibilities

  • Design power supplies and develop new and existing electrical power conversion and power management systems.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Department to review and craft proposals for projects involving power systems and power electronics equipment, often with limited or non-existent reference designs.
  • Identify, specify, and select components typically used in power applications.
  • Drive standardization, productivity, reliability, maintainability, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review product compliance with company standards, customer requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Modify and evaluate existing designs, electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry.
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, design suitability, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Work with AC/DC and DC/DC medium low voltage switch mode power supplies using various circuit topologies.
  • Interpret customer and marketing requirements for new or modified products.
  • Coordinate activities for PCB, mechanical design, documentation, safe agency approvals, and release of designs to manufacture.
  • Perform root cause analysis on products and technical problems.
  • Prepare user-related documentation relative to the technical design of products and components.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of schematic design, PCB design, troubleshooting, specification development, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and written instructions. Experience with EMI/RFI attenuation is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot AC and DC Power Supplies, Inverters, UPSs, and Power Distribution Systems to the component level.
  • Analytical skills to test new designs, methods, components, and circuit topologies with a focus on Design for Manufacturability.
  • Proficiency in using meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and thermal chambers.
  • Capability to write test procedures and develop test fixturing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and knowledge of PCAD is a plus.
  • Ability to delegate and manage a team of engineers and collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to develop professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and customers.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or Physical Science with 3 to 7 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience using relevant CAD and/or simulation software with three to five years of experience using applicable industry standards.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL-Standards for afloat, ground, and airborne environments.
  • Experience with Uninterruptible Power Systems.
