Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, troubleshooting, and improving electrical and electronic control systems for new and existing equipment.

  • Evaluate and improve machine safety conditions for plant personnel.

  • Initiate and implement repairs and improvements on line coverage.

  • Investigation of production and quality issues using problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.

  • Research, test, and purchase parts and new equipment along with monitoring existing stock.

  • Planning and design of new projects regarding both in-house projects and new line startups.


  • BS in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.

  • 2-3 years engineering experience, preferably in the automotive industry.

  • 3 years in the robotics field

  • Proficient in Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC programming, ABB robot programming, automation interfaces, networking, and Microsoft applications.

  • Experience in reading and creating electrical schematics.

  • Ability to communicate on controls issues to non-controls experts.

  • Ability and willingness to effectively participate on teams

  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Speech Clarity - The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.

  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  • Must be able to stand on concrete for 8 hours.

  • Must be able to work in a high temperature environment and wear protective clothing.

  • Finger Dexterity - The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.

  • Control Precision - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine
