Job Description
Hybrid Schedule: 2 Days Remote per Week
Our client, a global manufacturing organization with a strong footprint in West Michigan, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to step into a key leadership role at one of their high-performing facilities in the Holland area. This role offers a rare combination of operational visibility, team leadership, and true work-life balance-highlighted by a streamlined month-end close and a hybrid work schedule.
As the Assistant Plant Controller, you'll work closely with the Plant Controller to oversee financial operations and lead a team responsible for AP/AR, financial analysis, and general accounting. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid background in plant-level accounting who's ready to step into a bigger leadership role within a supportive, stable environment.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the plant
- Lead a small accounting and finance team
- Prepare and review financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Support internal and external audits through accurate documentation and reporting
- Analyze manufacturing costs and margins to identify trends and support decision-making
- Maintain and update standard costing in coordination with operations and finance
- Implement process improvements to streamline reporting and improve accuracy
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, GAAP, and internal controls
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing finance or accounting role
- 2+ years of prior experience managing or mentoring finance/accounting team members
- Solid understanding of GAAP, and financial reporting in a plant setting
